The LKY-ARE Award is a national level award for achievement in education that was presented since 2005. It recognises well-rounded students who excels in both academic and non-academic domains, demonstrates strong character, leadership and commitment to serve the community.

Teoh Kar Yee, a 2023 graduate of Woodgrove Primary School, embodies the school’s vision of Every Woodgrovian Shine – A Learner, A Contributor, and A Leader with Character. Her remarkable journey reflects her commitment to lifelong learning, meaningful contribution, and impactful leadership.

As a learner, Kar Yee's pursuit of excellence is evident in her track record of over 35 awards. These include the Character Excellence Award, All-round Academic Excellence Award, Edusave Scholarship Award, and the prestigious North West Outstanding All-Rounder Award. Her resilience and strong self-awareness not only bring about her strong academic performance but also her achievement in Robotics CCA. Kar Yee’s achievements in Taekwondo, and Gymnastics further demonstrate her passion for holistic learning and versatility in different domains.

As a contributor, Kar Yee’s dedication to her school and peers is exemplary. She consistently went beyond personal success to enrich the lives of others, fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. Her participation in various school and community programmes showcased her commitment to teamwork and community-building, making her a role model for her peers.

As a leader, Kar Yee shone brightly in her role as the President of Student Council. Her exceptional organisational and communication skills brought about her team’s success in Teachers' Day Celebration and the Lionhearters’ Challenge. Her ability to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds and mentor younger councillors strengthened the Student Council, ensuring its continuity and success. Her leadership was marked by empathy, strategic vision, and a dedication to nurturing others, earning her the respect and admiration of her peers, and the Student Counsellors EXCO team.

Kar Yee’s resilience, and commitment to excellence have set a strong foundation for her future. Her time at Woodgrove Primary has prepared her to continue thriving and inspiring others as she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, ready to shine even brighter.
